To contribute to the restoration of the national cotton industry, Prime Minister odingka of Kenya has instructed government ministers and agencies to buy staff uniforms from local industries.

Referring to the fact that before the collapse of the textile sector, when the local textile industry generated employment for many workers, Odinga said that the government promised to ensure that the textile industry flourished again.

"We need to restore this industry," said Odinga. "This industry has provided jobs for many Kenya people in the past in the production of textiles and cotton."

He once again requested the executive Secretariat to ensure that this directive was observed.

Odingka said that when he received the 2006 submission of the Kenya textile industry from the members of the Kenya Manufacturers Association, the market was flooded.

The submission says that the biggest challenge for Kenya's textile industry is that it is not used to new clothes.

The manufacturer applied to the government to relax part of the regulations so as to make textiles for the local market at competitive prices.

These regulations force export processing zones to manufacture textile products for export.

Manufacturers want to ensure that most Kenya people can buy new clothes instead of second-hand clothing.

Second hand clothing has flooded the local market in Kenya.

The Kenya Manufacturers Association once again declared that the high cost of production driven by high domestic energy costs drove investors to neighboring countries, where the cost was low.
