Online Sales Of Clothing And Footwear Jumped 50

According to IMRG IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index, in the first 3 months of 2008, British consumers spent 13 billion pounds on online shopping, up 50.5% from last year.

The total consumption figures represent that the amount spent online shopping in Britain is 213 pounds. During the Easter holidays alone, the total volume of online shopping in the United Kingdom amounted to 850 million. Among the most popular products, clothing, footwear and accessories were 31%, while beer, red wine and other alcoholic products increased by 28%, but the growth rate of electronic products increased by only 6.8%.

Anthoula Madden, vice president of Capgemini, says there is still room for growth in online sales, because shoppers can buy products in a more leisurely way in the Internet world, so online sales will continue to grow, though not at the present rate.
