China'S Silk Exports Dominate The World Trade.

According to the report of the India Central Silk Committee, India's silk imports decreased by 3.3% in the first half of 2008-09.

Imports are mainly from China, and China's silk exports account for the absolute advantage of world trade.

The import value of India silk fabrics reached US $98 million 600 thousand, compared with the US $111 million 630 thousand imports in the same period last fiscal year.

The import of raw silk dropped from US $105 million 230 thousand in the same period last year to US $98 million 880 thousand.

India's raw silk imports mainly come from China (4267 tons), Hongkong (8 tons), Brazil (2 tons), and other countries (3 tons).

Silk imports from China (all forms) increased year by year, and the fiscal year 2007 to 2008 increased by 38% over the previous year.

The production of silk in this country was about 21550 tons in 2008-09, compared with 18320 tons in the last fiscal year.
