Major Breakthroughs Have Been Made In Waterless Dyeing Technology In China.

The Key Laboratory of Provincial Textile Universities has learned that the supercritical carbon dioxide water free dyeing technology developed by the lab has made a major breakthrough with the engineering equipment and the dyeing technology of loose fiber and garment products without water.
The appraisal of the scientific and technological achievements appraisal conference organized by the Liaoning provincial science and Technology Department recently is that the scientific research achievement has reached the international advanced level, and has provided a new solution for solving the water pollution and the comprehensive utilization of carbon dioxide in the textile dyeing and finishing industry.

In order to solve the problem of water pollution caused by textile dyeing and finishing industry, since 2001, the Key Laboratory of textile in Liaoning province has studied the natural carbon fiber supercritical carbon dioxide water free dyeing technology in China, and used recycled carbon dioxide as carrier to dye dyes in supercritical state.
After years of efforts, the researchers revealed the mechanism of supercritical carbon dioxide dyeing without water and invented the unique technology of one-step extraction dyeing.
The technology is characterized by the fact that the dyeing process is free of water, dyes and carbon dioxide can be recycled, and the dyeing process needs no chemical additives to completely solve the problem.

According to Zheng Laijiu, in 2004, the project was included in the science and technology guidance project of the China Textile Industry Association, and was successively funded by the Liaoning provincial science and Technology Department, the Liaoning provincial education department and the Dalian science and Technology Bureau.
In 2005, the center cooperated with Guangming Chemical Research and Design Institute to develop a supercritical carbon dioxide water free dyeing experimental device suitable for natural fibers.
On the basis of the success of the small test, in 2009, an engineering equipment with pilot scale of production was developed to realize the visualization of the key dyeing device and to have industrialized conditions in the dyeing of disperse fiber and garment art.
The color fastness of dyed products reached 4 grade, and the color fastness to wash water reached 5 level, which accords with the international environmental protection textile standard and GB18401 - 2003 standard.
The Key Laboratory of Textile Universities in Liaoning has declared 9 national invention patents and has been authorized 4.
Experts believe that the technology conquered the traditional dyeing technology, such as water medium and serious environmental pollution, and fundamentally solved the common key problems of serious environmental pollution and high energy consumption in the textile dyeing and finishing industry, and realized the cleaner production of dyeing process.
It is predicted that with the popularization and application of the technology, the annual water saving in China's textile and dyeing industry can reach 1 billion ~15 billion cubic meters.
