Labels For Textiles And Garments

Recently, the US textile fiber product identification act and the wool product labelling act have issued new regulations requiring imported textiles and garments to be marked or added.

Label

The labels must be marked in English, and the following rules are emphasized.

Labels for fiber components must be made of non trademark fiber names, and should be arranged in order from weight to percentage. Fiber names may be approved by the Federal Trade Commission or the international standardization organization.

trademark

Names can be used in conjunction with non trademark fiber names; fiber components can be marked on the back of the label, but the information must be easily found; fiber less than 5% of total fiber weight should not be identified by name, but should be listed as other fibers, except for fibers with specific functions; all garments must be labeled with cloth labels; clothing must be accompanied by permanent labels providing nursing instructions and importers.

distributor

The name of a retailer or foreign producer.

The label of textile and garment is the basic information for consumers to understand the quality of clothing. Marking errors or not meeting the requirements of importing countries are not only directly related to the integrity of enterprises, but also to the risks of export products.

Many countries have made clear and strict requirements, such as the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, the European Union and other developed countries and regions, all of which have formulated relevant laws and regulations on the label marking of textile and clothing, and have clear regulations on the name, component content and language marking of the textile and clothing.

On the one hand, it is aimed at safeguarding the interests of consumers and improving the quality of enterprises' products. On the other hand, it is also an important means to set up technical trade measures in developed countries.

For this reason, the inspection and quarantine department reminds the garment export enterprises to grasp the quality of the products from the details, attach importance to the source management of the product quality, do not trust the marks provided by the customers, take the initiative to regularly entrust qualified authoritative inspection institutions for verification, and strengthen the understanding and mastery of the domestic and foreign technical regulations. Enterprises should carefully examine the labels when adding ingredients, and strictly label them according to the relevant standards.

In addition, the exporters must realize that the export garments should conform to the contract requirements signed by both parties and must comply with the requirements of the laws and regulations of the importing countries.
