The northeastern waters of Japan occurred a magnitude 7.4 earthquake on the evening of 7. The Japanese Meteorological Agency issued a tsunami warning to the Pacific coast of Northeast China. There are no reports of casualties and property losses.


According to the observation by the Japan Meteorological Department, the earthquake occurred at 23:32 local time (22:32 Beijing time). The epicenter was located near the 40 km east of the stag Peninsula in Miyagi Prefecture. The specific location is 38.2 degrees north latitude, 142 degrees east longitude, and the focal depth is about 40 km.

There were strong earthquakes in Miyagi Prefecture, Aomori, Iwate, Akita, Yamagata and Fukushima Prefecture. Tokyo, Chiba, gomaxian, Nagano and Kanagawa counties had strong sense of earthquake.


The Japanese Meteorological Agency immediately issued a tsunami warning to the Pacific rim of Northeast China immediately after the earthquake. It is expected that a tsunami of about 1 meters will appear along the coast of Miyagi Prefecture. A tsunami of 50 centimeters will appear along the coast of Iwate, Fukushima, Ibaraki and Aomori counties.

According to the meteorological department, the earthquake was the aftershock of the March 11th earthquake.


The atomic energy safety and Security Institute of Japan's Ministry of economy and industry said 2 of the 3 external power sources of the Northeastern Power Plant in Miyagi Prefecture were temporarily disabled after 2 earthquake.

However, with the help of emergency power supply, the cooling system of the nuclear power plant is still in normal operation at this stage.


According to Kyodo news agency, after the earthquake, all the staff of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant and second nuclear power station of Tokyo electric power company all took refuge. All the expressways in Miyagi Prefecture were all closed.


In the northeastern waters of Japan, a magnitude 9 earthquake occurred on March 11th and triggered a tsunami, causing heavy casualties and property losses.
