European Fashion Industry

For many fashion For consumers, appearance is far more important than practicality. Thanks to modern textile technology, the appearance and touch of artificial fur and leather are not different from those of real leather, so it is difficult for consumers to tell the difference. The new fur and leather label regulations have recently been approved. Soon, European consumers can only be very sure about their ingredients in fashion by simply glancing at the labels. To help manufacturers and retailers ensure that their clothing meets the new regulations, Intertek, a leading quality and safety solution provider in many industries, has launched tailored textile quality and composition testing, such as fiber analysis and labeling services.

In May 11, 2011, the European Parliament approved the new fur and leather textiles. Label Laws and regulations are for existing. statute The new law stipulates that all animal derived non textile ingredients in products should be recognized by manufacturers and retail trademarks. All animal derived ingredients contained in the product must be clearly stated on the label of textile products. The official wording is "non textile ingredients containing animal origin".

These legislative amendments allow consumers to easily distinguish fur and leather from natural or artificial ingredients and make sure that they purchase decisions on the basis of knowing the facts. This improvement can also benefit allergic patients, because fur and chemicals in clothing processing can cause potential harm to their health.

MikeRedshaw, European technical knowledge manager of Intertek consumer product division, said: "because of the introduction of this regulation, retailers must be aware of the ingredients of the clothing they sell. Intertek provides advisory solutions such as component verification and advisory services to ensure that products comply with labeling regulations and standards, and help retailers meet new regulatory requirements. "

The newly issued textile labeling regulations still need to be formally signed by EU Member States. The new regulation will take effect 20 days after the publication of the EUO fficial Journal. The industry still needs time to adapt to the newly issued labelling regulations, and it is expected that there will be a transition period of at least 2 years.
