Taiwan's 3 Shoe Enterprises Are Now Investing In Indonesia
Anton J. Supit, chairman of the Indonesian Footwear Association (APRISINDO), said that three shoe factories in China had invested in Indonesia, with a total investment of US $25 million, employing about 3000 workers.
Canal believes that Indonesia is one of the competitive countries.
S chairman said that these three shoe factories are part of Taiwan shoe factory moving to Indonesia from mainland China.
Indonesia's Ministry of industry predicts that the total capital needed for relocation projects will amount to US $4 billion.
According to the association's information, the Taiwan shoe factory that plans to invest includes: Vanasia Footwear will invest 10 million US dollars, with an annual output of 180 thousand pairs, with 1200 employees; Soe Links company, 10 million US dollars, an annual production of 240 thousand pairs, 1800 employees, Sun MoonStar company, 5 million US dollars, an annual output of 120 thousand pairs.
Our investment in Indonesia reached US $469 million 700 thousand in 2007.
S president also said Indonesia's Pei Hai InternationalWiratama company also plans to increase the amount of 14 million US dollars to raise production to 24 thousand pairs and employ 1800 workers.
Canal said that the current investment in Taiwan and China is not large, with a monthly layoff of 10%. Therefore, investment enterprises in Taiwan and China are interested in competitive regions.
According to the information from the Indonesian investment Coordination Committee (BKPM), the implementation rate of shoe factories in 2007 is very low, and there are 3 Taiwan enterprises investing in the Jabodetabek area, namely, Ching Luh, Shyang Yao Fung and Wei Siang. It is estimated that this year shoe industry investment will increase rapidly with the investment from Taiwan businessmen. One of them is to buy some shoe factories that have been closed down, especially the Indonesian Ministry of industry has allowed foreign investment to buy shoes factories which are in trouble because of improper management.
