Since August 1st, the national basic safety technical specification for textile products has been fully enforced. In the future, infants under 3 years old clothing All the highest safety class a standards will be implemented. In addition, the restrictions on the content of toxic and harmful substances will also be stricter.

Infant clothing must conform to class a standard.

After comparing the new and old standards, the reporter found that there are 3 main changes in the new standard: the extension of the age range of infant textile products, the stricter control of toxic and harmful substances, and the expansion of baby products and direct contact with skin products. The new standard is more stringent for formaldehyde content, pH value, color fastness, odor and decomposable aromatic amine dyes and other toxic and harmful substances. The limit of "maximum limit of 20mg/kg for carcinogenic aromatic amines" has been added.

However, for ordinary citizens, it is obviously unrealistic to identify the composition of clothing. The most direct and simple way to identify clothes is through clothing labels. According to the new standard, the definition of "infant" age in infant textiles has expanded from 0~24 months to 0~36 months. This means that the textile products that are originally used to meet the requirements of B class or C class for 2~3 years old children must meet the requirements of class a of the highest safety grade in the future.

The new standard also stipulates that the implementation criteria (including years) must be marked on the product tag, and the safety technology category specified by the product shall be marked according to the GB18401 standard. That is to say, clothing for infants and young children under the age of 3 must conform to the GB18401 standard, and the standard clothing must be labelled, with the words "baby products, class A, GB18401 2010" on the label.

Yesterday, reporters visited many children's clothing stores and shopping malls in downtown area and found that many shopkeepers expressed "no knowledge" about the new national standard. Especially in some foreign trade shops, some of the labels are in Chinese, some in English, others are not found at all. However, reporters in Nancheng Cai Yi Department Store children's clothing counters see that the 0~3 year old baby clothes have been labeled with the new national standard. A salesperson said, "those who can enter the shopping mall are usually big brands, and they will strictly abide by the national standards. The shopping mall will also check in this area."

According to the notice issued by the Ministry of industry and information technology, products that do not conform to the new regulations will "prohibit production, sale and importation". In this regard, the Dongguan industry and Commerce Bureau said that if the citizens bought unqualified children's clothing, they could report to the city's business consulting service hotline "12315", and the staff would handle and reply as soon as possible.
