Ben (2013) half a year ago Vietnam textile Exports amounted to US $8 billion 900 million, up 14.5% over the same period last year. We affirmed the competitive position of Vietnamese textiles in the international market, especially in the US, EU, Japan and South Korea.

The United States is the largest market for textile exports in Vietnam. In the first half of this year, exports amounted to US $3 billion 940 million, up 12% from the same period last year, accounting for 44.8% of Vietnam's total textile exports.

In the first half of the EU market, exports amounted to US $1 billion 290 million and grew by 18%. It is worth noting that in addition to the EU's market for developing countries, Vietnam's textile amplification market is exported to new EU member states such as EU developing countries.

Japanese textile exports amounted to US $1 billion 100 million, accounting for 12.5% of total textile exports and 24.5% growth.

South Korea is the fourth largest textile export market in Vietnam, and exports amounted to US $660 million in the first half of this year.

Vietnam's total textile exports are expected to reach US $19 billion 500 million this year.

In April 24, 2013, a 8 storey clothing factory building collapsed in the town of Sarwar, a suburb of Dhaka, Bangladesh, killing thousands. This tragedy has attracted the attention of the international community. Many famous retailers, such as H&M, Primark, Marks&Spencer and Mango, have signed a supply agreement with Bangladesh factories. Many analysts have criticized that these companies only pay their own money but ignore the situation of the workers in the suppliers' factories. It is because of their long disregard that these sweatworkers are working under extreme conditions, so they are responsible for the collapse of the building.

Prior to this, ILO IndustriALLGlobalUnion has led the development of a "safety production agreement" which aims to urge retailers to fulfill their supervisory obligations and urge Bangladesh suppliers to produce products according to safety standards. At present, famous retailers such as H&M, Primark, Marks&Spencer, Mango, G-Star and Benetton have joined or are ready to join the agreement. But UNIQLO, Japan's fast retailing group, the fourth largest clothing retailer in the world, refused to join the agreement. UNIQLO recently announced two stores in Bangladesh, and UNIQLO claimed that all clothing sold in the store will be manufactured in accordance with the "independent safety standards" of UNIQLO.

Since the death of 1129 people in a garment factory building in Bangladesh in April, a total of 80 clothing retail companies have signed a "safety agreement" to ensure the safe production of Bangladesh supplier factories. But UNIQLO refused to join the agreement.

CathyFeingold, head of the International Department of AFL-CIO, said that many chain retail companies have developed their own safety production standards, which claim that their safety standards are binding on suppliers' factories. But the practice of twenty years has proved that this way is failure, so the decentralized and unorganized independent supervision method is far from enough. Therefore, under the leadership of the ILO IndustriALLGlobalUnion, a "safety agreement" was designed to supervise the safe production of supplier factories. IndustriALLGlobalUnion has persuaded many European and American companies to join the agreement. In the coming months, they will also exert pressure on Asian companies and urge them to join the agreement.

JyrkiRaina, Secretary General of ILO IndustriALLGlobalUnion, who led the development of the security agreement, said: "what we can do now is to have our Japanese affiliates find some Target Corp and see how they should be urged to join the agreement."

UNIQLO has been making garments in Bangladesh since 2008, but most of its garments are made by Chinese factories. Fast marketing group is striving to expand its scale to become the world's largest apparel retail group by 2020. At present, fast selling group is the fourth largest apparel retailer in the world.

However, the negative reports of UNIQLO in production increased rapidly from 2011 to 2012. Among them, the report of "serious violation" of UNIQLO factory increased from 19 to 34, and the reports of "serious immorality" and "serious offense" increased from zero to seven.
