According to the white paper released by the State General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine, the quality of imported cotton in China showed that the grade, length and strength of imported cotton in 2015 were higher than those of the same period last year.

According to statistics, the overall average rate of non conformity was 14.72%, an increase of 1.77 percentage points compared with the same period in 2014 (12.95%), grade reduction from 0.5 to 4, and 121 batches of imported cotton down to 100%.

The influx of imported cotton and the quality of the products are worrying. It not only affects the interests of China's cotton spinning enterprises, but also impacts China's cotton market order. It also has a significant negative impact on China's cotton production and cotton farmers' interests.

Experts suggest that we should further strengthen the inspection and management of imported cotton quality and safeguard the legitimate interests of domestic industries.

China is the largest cotton producer, consumer and importer in the world.

It accounts for nearly 1/3 of the world cotton output. In recent years, the cotton sowing area has continuously decreased, but its output still stands at over 5 million 500 thousand tons.

According to Tang Shurong, a researcher at the Cotton Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the cotton quality supervision and testing center of the Ministry of agriculture, the quality of domestic cotton has gradually improved in recent years, and domestic high-quality cotton can meet the cotton demand of domestic textile enterprises.

With China's emphasis on improving cotton quality, cotton seed producing areas such as Xinjiang have been improved from seed selection, cultivation mode, cotton processing and pportation. In recent years, the internal quality of domestic cotton has been improved.

The quality cotton resources produced in Xinjiang and other areas have also become the target of cotton spinning enterprises in the production of high-end products.
