Masatoshi Ishimoto, chairman of the company, said that China's sports equipment market is very competitive and faces additional challenges from counterfeit products.

I believe that by working with local sports equipment manufacturers, Descente will be more comfortable in resisting counterfeit goods.

The company's total sales in China in fiscal year 2015 amounted to 22 billion yen ($207 million), and it plans to double sales.

Descente is rapidly expanding its business in overseas markets.

In addition to its expansion plan in China, the company is busy opening up golf clothing stores in South Korea.
