According to the world clothing and shoe net, on Monday, the federal court of the United States said that the US Costco Wholesale Corp (good market many, hereinafter referred to as Costco) was sold illegally.

The trademark diamond engagement ring will compensate the US luxury jewelry company Tiffany & Co (hereinafter referred to as Tiffany) for at least $19 million 400 thousand.

Laura Taylor Swain, an American District Court judge, said that Tiffany should receive $11 million 100 thousand in compensation plus interest (the amount is three times the loss of trademark Costco infringement, plus the $8 million 250 thousand punitive damages awarded by the jury last October).

Laura Taylor Swain also announced that Costco should never be prohibited from selling any products with Tiffany trademarks not from Tiffany, unless this commodity is sold.

Costco said that the company intends to continue appeals, saying that the Laura Taylor Swain decision has made many mistakes.

The company said in a statement: "this is not a counterfeit infringement case that we usually understand. We have not sold a ring that forged Tiffany."

Retailer retailer Costco will pay Tiffany1940 million for trademark infringement.

The case first dates back to February 2013. Tiffany then sent Costco to court, claiming that Costco used illegal Tiffany counterfeit Tiffany logo to describe a specific engagement ring, but the ring was not produced by Tiffany company.

Costco refutes that the term "Tiffany" can be regarded as a general term for a single gem branching ring.

In September 2015, the local court of southern New York dismissed this statement and judged Costco trademark infringement. The judgment allowed Tiffany to seek compensation for Costco, including loss of profits.

In October 2016, the jury gave a verdict, demanding that Costco compensate Tiffany $5 million 500 thousand.

Costco said that about 2500 rings with Tiffany trademark were sold, with a total value of about $781 thousand, which is much lower than the $5 million 500 thousand compensation awarded by the court.

Laura Taylor Swain believes that Costco's defense is not reliable because evidence shows that the display of premium jewelry is an important part of Tiffany's marketing strategy.

Some consumers who buy Costco rings look for products from Tiffany, and when they find that the ring is not produced by Tiffany, they are angry.

Tiffany legal adviser Leigh Harlan issued a clear and strong message to anyone who attempted to infringe on Tiffany's trademark in a statement.

"We put forward this case because we feel it is our duty to protect the value of products purchased by our customers and make sure that they are not misled by Costco," she said.

Last month, Tiffany appointed Alessandro Bogliolo, the former Italy luxury jewellery brand Bvlgari (Bulgari) executive manager, as the brand new CEO to help boost sales in the millennial consumer preference shift.
