The Fastest Growing Rate Of Service Industry In The UK In January 2020 Since 2018
According to the guardian and telegraph, the IHS Markit/CIPS Purchasing Managers'Index (PMI) in January 2020 jumped from 50 in December 2019 to 53.9, higher than the 52.9 expected by economists, the fastest growth rate since 2018, and the optimism of the industry has approached the highest level in 2015.
Since the election of Boris Johnson in December 2019, the political uncertainty in Britain has gradually weakened, pushing consumption and investment across the country. Ruth Gregory, an economist at Capital Economics, a consultancy, said the PMI data showed a rebound in the UK economy. IHS Markit economist Chris Williamson said the new coronavirus has become a potential threat to global commerce and trade despite the slight tension in the US China trade war.
