The Importance Of Xinjiang Cotton And "Cotton Certification Standard" And "Supply Chain Traceability Close System"

Cotton Certification Standard

China's cotton is constantly entering the world market, and many American media have recognized the fact that it is really difficult not to use Xinjiang cotton. In a report on April 16, the US consumer news and business channel analyzed "why it is easier to say than to do to boycott Xinjiang cotton". The reason is that China's cotton production ranks second in the world (after India), while China also exports cotton to 14 countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, and yarn to 190 countries.

The US media "New York Times" also pointed out in a report at the beginning of this month that the global textile industry supply chain is very long, and many of the intermediate steps may be carried out in different countries or regions such as China. Even if BCI member brands do not cooperate with Chinese factories, it is difficult to guarantee that their partners will not purchase Xinjiang cotton. Therefore, it is very difficult for the whole world to give up Xinjiang cotton completely.
The importance of Xinjiang cotton is self-evident, and for domestic cotton enterprises, it is more important to establish their own standards as soon as possible. We should know that BCI, as one of the sustainable Cotton Standards Initiative organizations, connects all links of the global cotton industry upstream and downstream, and the storm caused by the organization has more or less affected the business of domestic cotton enterprises; More importantly, as early as July 2020, the United States launched the US cotton trust agreement, trying to establish its own standards.
If the United States really gets the actual control of this agreement, it will require all countries to use the American version of "certification standards" and "supply chain traceability system"; Combined with the original control of the United States in the field of international sales, the development of China's textile industry will be more passive.

Fortunately, China has stepped up its pace and plans to launch the Chinese version of the "good cotton Development Association" (BCI), the South China Morning Post reported on April 15 that Zhongnong Guoji, a vertical cotton service provider, had set up the "future cotton" plan two years ago. According to insiders, the uncertainties brought about by the cotton storm in Xinjiang were revealed, The implementation of the plan will be in the near future.
