India Comprehensive Textile Park Plans New Employment Opportunities

Anand, India's Federal Minister of Commerce and industry and textile minister, has advised the textile industry to enhance its competitiveness on the global stage.

In the speech of the Congressional textile advisory committee, Sharma said: "in addition to our support, it is essential to maintain global competitiveness."


The congressional advisory committee discussed the comprehensive silk development plan (ISDS) and the comprehensive textile garden project (SITP):

Sharma told the Congressional textile advisory board that India's textile industry is overwhelmingly dominant in the country's economic life.

India's textile sector is the second generation of employment sector in the country, next to the agricultural sector.

The funds allocated by the Department reached 140 billion rupees, which now increased by 50 billion rupees to 190 billion rupees.

The government formulated the national fiber policy and provided a historic impetus for the development of the textile sector.


The official silk development program, Sharma, explains that the plan focuses on producing a large variety of technologies, from foundation to specialization, to meet the needs of industry.

The textile sector is the second largest sector of employment. In the entire two level sector and throughout the process, it calls for diversified technological combinations.

Silk is therefore linked to quality standards and competitiveness, especially in the export market.

Up to now, there are 18 organizations as the first group and 12 organizations as the second group.

The Ministry of textiles is developing a technology exchange portal and a management intelligence system portal.


In October 2011, the India government approved 21 new textile parks, producing 90 billion rupees in the textile sector and providing 400 thousand workers with employment.

The comprehensive textile garden project has attracted international attention. The prime minister announced the establishment of a comprehensive textile park in Africa with an investment of 3 billion 500 million rupees.
